About Sophia

I am from a multicultural background with half of my family being Spanish speakers and the other half being English speakers. This has made me appreciate effective communication and is the reason for my willingness to work with those from all learning levels.

I enjoy the opportunity to share my culture with others and also appreciate working with students from different cultural backgrounds. I am fortunate that I am able to help others expand their knowledge and aim to make it an interesting experience.

I am working with Teach for America as a fellow to teach children from underprivileged backgrounds. Before that, I have experience being a freelance tutor at my high school back in Buenos Aires, where I would help fellow students achieve their academic goals.

Due to my major requirements, I spend a large portion of my working time learning about and interacting with other cultures. My university is mainly made up of students from minority communities and operates in both English and Spanish.

About the lesson

The most important requirement for a successful academic partnership is the willingness to collaborate. Oftentimes, students feel anxious about their learning capabilities. I try my best to make students feel comfortable so that they have a personalized learning experience where they feel free to speak their minds.
