About Tyler
My name is Tyler Gibson, and I currently play for Oakland Roots. The reason I’m confident I can help you is because I’m not teaching from theory, I’m teaching from real experience. I’ve been playing since I was 4, and I came from Knoxville, Tennessee — not exactly a soccer hotspot — so I understand what it takes to create your own path when nothing is handed to you.
I played 4.5 years at UNC Charlotte and competed in the 2011 national championship, went to the MLS Combine, and even though I wasn’t drafted, I kept going — trials in the U.S. and Germany, and I played in Germany too. Now I’m in my 13th pro season, I’ve lived in over 10 cities, and I’ve experienced every side of the game: injuries, surgeries, coaches that build you up, coaches that tear you down — and how to keep progressing through all of it.
What sets me apart is I don’t just train skills — I train the player. We’ll build your technical and game-specific habits, but we’ll also dial in the details most people ignore: nutrition, workouts, recovery, prehab/rehab, and the mental side — confidence, focus, handling pressure, and being ready when opportunities show up.
If you’re serious about reaching your highest level and you want someone who’s actually lived the journey and can guide you through the grind, I’d love to work with you.
