About Courtney
I believe that music can be an extremely powerful force for good in the world. I find a deep sense of fulfillment in connecting with those who share that belief and are ready to join forces to help uplift ourselves and humanity.
One-to-one sessions will allow students to receive experience-based guidance related to singing and songwriting. This approach emphasizes confidence-building and authenticity in singing and songwriting.
Students can choose a focus that is only songwriting, only singing, or both singing and songwriting.
In addition to the one-to-one sessions, my service includes an online songwriter circle.
Music has saved my life in more ways than I can describe. I am honored to have the opportunity to support others in exploring and awakening their songwriting and singing potential.
I have been writing and singing my own songs since my early childhood. I have been a protest singer, recording artist, and public performer for over 20 years. I am currently a background singer for Citizen Cope with a forthcoming solo project on Rainwater Recordings.
Much of my music is related to human rights and my own journey of personal liberation.
I began teaching singing and songwriting formally in 2008 for One World Cultural Arts in Baltimore, MD.
In 2011 I taught vocals for The School Of Rock at multiple locations in the DC area.
In 2014 I began the Songwriting For Superheroes program as part of Knowledge Commons DC.
