Experienced tutor in Singing in Lewes, Joan offers private lessons tailored to your needs.

What I liked about working with Joan Barber Studio was that Joan met each of her students at their level and helped them to find their individual voice. She is confident, funny, fun-loving, and very resourceful. I would highly recommend Joan to any student willing to learn about theater, voice, and expand their repertoire!

Joan is an extraordinary voice teacher. I was a soprano my entire life unable to access my higher chest voice. Joan carefully guided me to understand my vocal instrument so that I could expand my “belt” voice. Most importantly, she truly cared about me and helped me build my confidence and understanding of vocal technique. Joan is a unique, caring person that I consider a teacher and friend.

Joan taught me how to sing. Point blank. With one eye on the demands of the business, she taught me how to best use and stretch MY voice. Our work was challenging, and at times frustrating, as are all serious artistic endeavors. When I open my mouth to sing, I always think of Joan and of our work together. Perhaps more importantly, as I move through the world, the multitude of other lessons she taught me stay close to my mind and my heart. Joan teaches voice, yes. And she does so magnificently. But she also teaches artistry, storytelling, and humanity. Her studio is incredible on so very many levels.

Joan is a caring and perceptive teacher who helped me grow as a performer in many ways. Her professional experience and technique is top notch. I feel lucky to know Joan, and I highly recommend Joan Barber Studio.
