In the first instance, I need to talk to student. Learn a bit about what they want to acheive, their singing or performamce history, family and/school background relating to performance. Answer any question they may have regarding the lessons and myself. Schedule a lesson time and date and what to bring and decide on lesson location. I always want to hear the student sing any song of their choosing. I would like to hear 32 bars at least or the entire song. Depending on what the student wants to achieve, I will begin the process of acheiving that goal. We go through scales, warm up exercises, sometimes finding their range. At the end of the lesson, I talk with the student and find out if they would like to continue with more lessons then proceed to schedule the next lesson. If the students wishes to continue lessons with me, they usually leave with a bit of homework. All I ask of my students is a passion and desire for fantastic adventure in music they are entering and that they commit to honestly putting in the practice on their homework😊This is vital to their progress and prep for the next lesson.
