About Danielle

I have been tutoring students and adults for 4 years. I was teaching English in Spain for 3 years where I earned my TEFL and Advanced TEFL. Also, I have taught all the basic subjects to elementary students in NJ. I am a certified Elementary School Teacher. I build escape rooms to review vocabulary with my students. I enjoy tutoring because the one-on-one teaching is great so that the student feels comfortable asking questions and getting the help the student needs to achieve his or her goal.

I was always tutoring my friends or other students in my classes in different subjects and I found a lot of joy in teaching someone else something. I teach because I love watching the person's face light up when they finally understand the concept he/she had been struggling to grasp.

I have one degree in Elementary Education and another in Middle School Social Studies. I have two certificates. One certificate in 120 hours of TEFL and one advanced TEFL. In addition, I know ASL and can speak Spanish.

About the lesson

I like to meet with the student first and ask them some questions to get to know them and learn what kind of help they are looking for, basically so the student and I can come up with a game plan and a goal to reach at the end of the tutoring sessions. Then the second meeting we start and I begin tutoring them in whatever subject(s) they need help in.

I have worked with students who don't speak English, teachers, adults, students ages 3 to 16 and some students with special needs.

I would tell the student it is important to find a teacher that you like, who encourages you to do your best and is always pushing you to go beyond what you think you are capable of.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about how much time they have to get tutored and how much effort they are willing to put into learning.Students should think about what they struggle with the most and what methods didn't work to learn it. The students should think about how they learn best and be able to describe it to the teacher. For example, if the student was in a room and had to learn information would the student prefer to listen as the teacher explained something, see it being explained with pictures and words or have the student have to physically move or touch something to understand like moving counters or drawing a picture.
