About Teresa

At Inland Empire Piano Lessons, we believe that EVERYONE can learn how to play the piano, no matter how young or how old or whether or not they've ever played a musical instrument or ever had music lessons before. With the right approach, ANYONE can discover and then share the joy of making music! We also believe that cost should NOT be an issue when it comes to being able to afford piano lessons. Our rates are competitive with multiple students and senior discount rates, as well as partial and full scholarships available to qualifying low-income families.*

We also make taking lessons convenient by bringing the lessons to YOU and teaching you in your own home! Weekly lesson times are available in the mornings, afternoons, early evenings, and some Saturdays. A new service that we're adding in 2019 is Online Web lessons which can be taken using a web cam and a computer.

I love seeing the lights go on in a student's eyes when they learn a new song or when they experiment with their own creativity and compose a song of their own! I remember what it was like when I first started taking piano lessons and how intimidating it seemed at first. I have been fortunate to have learned how to put a student at ease and make them comfortable, making them aware the EVERYBODY starts out as a beginner and gets better and better with practice This is also relative with adults who begin taking lessons and feel anxious about starting so 'late' in life. It's never too late!

I interned at a piano studio in Irvine, California in 1989. When the studio owner retired the following year, I began teaching independently in Orange County, starting in the same city I interned in. 



I studied Piano Pedagogy at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California and Commercial Recording Arts at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California.

After speaking on the phone and arranging a lesson time, I meet with the student and use our first meeting together to get to know each other, learning about what kind of music the student would like to learn and assessing what their personal learning style might be. I show the student how to play a quick little song on the piano that they will practice over the next week until we have another lesson together. The 2nd week, the student is provided with instructional and supplemental material chosen specifically for them after assessing their musical preferences, individual learning style, and aptitude. 



I have taught children as young as four years old and adults well into their 70's. My students have mostly been beginners, but I have taught those who have already had lessons and were of an intermediate level.

Details

Piano lessons are taught in the student's home on a set day and time each week. Lessons are usually 1/2 hour long, but some students benefit from longer lessons times such as 45 minute or one-hour lessons. Standard rates are as follow:

1/2 hour lesson: $20 per week

45-minute lesson: $30 per week

One-hour lesson: $40 per week

Discounts are given for multiple students and seniors. 

Partial and full scholarships are also available to qualifying low-income students. (Please ask about scholarship program when first inquiring about lessons.)
