About Shira
I like to customize my lessons because each person is different. I'm not going to teach you the fundamentals of painting flowers in vases when you want to paint a landscape or a portrait.
Although there are things that everyone needs to know when starting something new, the class will be tailored to your expectations.
I fell in love with painting 21 years ago and I just think it's the bees knees... lol! No, seriously though, I love painting so much, I generally use acrylic and have painted on everything from glass ornaments to 10ft walls.
I love to see the growth of creativity and confidence in beginning artists. Being a part of that journey excites me, especially as the teacher.
It was actually my sisters idea that I teach elementary art, and since I have always loved everything art has to offer (even if I am not the one creating it) I figured why not be a teacher.
As for me signing up to teach adults right now, it's kind of a spur of the moment thing, but I feel it would be equally satisfying if not more.
I am self taught in acrylic painting. I began 21 years ago and began teaching elementary art 5 years ago.

Getting to know my students. Inquiring about their inspiration for wanting lessons and what there experiences and expectations are.
Elementary students of course. I have given adults tips on painting or art in general, but I would not consider them students.
Just look for a teacher that is willing to work with you, keeps an open line of communication, has a good attitude, and a lot of patience.
Art can be very tricky to explain and to grasp sometimes. Art is not always literal, it can sometimes be a feeling.
I would one day like to be a part of Art Basel.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Is art expensive? Am I willing to purchase all the needed supplies? How serious am I about this journey?
Will I allow myself to make mistakes? Will I continue to take the lessons even if I get intimidated?
