About Casey

I have over ten years of formal vocal training in classical, musical theatre, and pop styles and have been singing and performing for twenty years. I have been teaching voice for over two years across the country and specialize in musical theatre and classical voice, although I have training and experience with pop as well. I work with each student one on one to help them strengthen and perfect their technique in various ways, including breath control, vocal safety and awareness, and by teaching them how to release tension and sing with a fuller sound and with more vocal control.

It is so satisfying to me to see the joy on my students' faces as they exclaim "I didn't know I could sing like that!" As someone who struggles with performance anxiety, I strive to help each of my students to feel prepared and confident so that they don't have to experience the anxiety that I have!

I didn't realize that I would enjoy or be particularly good at teaching voice until I was working at a children's theatre in North Carolina. I found myself constantly giving vocal tips and coaching students one-on-one and found a lot of success, so I decided to start coaching formally!

I studied classical voice with Weber State University's Evelyn Harris for four and a half years, and musical theatre and pop with Brigham Young University's Emily Castleton Warner for three years. I have sung with the Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre company and have performed and taught voice across the country for the past several years.

About the lesson

We will have one trial lesson together to see if we mesh well as a team. There is nothing more frustrating than having a teacher that you feel like isn't a good fit for you! We will discuss what style of music you would like to study, some possible songs we can work on together, and then I will ask you to sing a song for me that you are comfortable with so we can work on it together in your first lesson.

I have worked with students both male and female as young as 6 and as old as 22, but I feel confident that I can help older students as well.

I recommend finding a teacher that will help you learn how to take care of your voice. Vocal safety is my #1 priority, because my voice is my most prized possession.

If we are talking voice-related, then it would be the proud look on one of my students' faces after she belted a big end note and confidently said that that was the best she has ever sung the song.

Non-voice related, it would have to be when I went to Disney World a year ago (I'm obsessed with Disney). I want to go back soon!!!!
