About Jessica
Hi! I’m an experienced biology instructor and online tutor working with students from middle school through college, with 3 years teaching university-level plant biology and cell & molecular biology plus 1 year tutoring environmental science online. I hold a master’s degree in evolutionary biology and bring 6 years of professional experience as a biologist. I help students build strong fundamentals and connect concepts to real-world examples using a student-centered, growth-minded approach: clear goals, targeted practice, active recall, and step-by-step problem solving to build confidence and lasting understanding.
I take a professional, organized approach to tutoring: sessions are tailored to your goals, expectations are clear, and progress is tracked so you can see improvement over time. My style is supportive and straightforward—I explain concepts in plain language, then we practice with targeted questions until you can apply the material confidently on your own.
Outside of tutoring, I’m usually outdoors snowboarding, hiking, or surfing. I enjoy helping students build both skills and confidence, and I’m committed to providing a respectful, reliable learning experience from start to finish.
