My education as a student of Yin Mei began in 2009, and is something I look forwards to continuing for the foreseeable future.
Her methodology is based on a distillation of multiple Eastern and Western somatic practices with which she demonstrates a clear and thorough understanding of the body.
While she does appreciate the visual flash of fancy moves and inversions, her lessons place an emphasis on micro-movements and building a thorough foundation of one's body on physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual levels.
I have found that her integration of imagery and metaphor alongside standardized vocabulary also helps to deepen one's understanding of how to enable one's body to flow from position to position. Best of all, she is a proactive and patient teacher who generates an air of positive calm and understands exactly how and when to push her students out of their comfort zones. The experience is at once beautiful and thorough. I would recommend her without limitation or qualification.
