About Todd

With over 35 years of experience and more than 25 years studying how meditation works, Todd Robinson is one of, if not the, most knowledgeable meditation expert of our time.

Todd was an ordained Thai Forrest Tradition Buddhist Monk in the 1990's and now teaches how meditation works while you use it to identify and replace unhelpful habits and personal-triggers to gently mold yourself into the person you really want to be.

There's nothing I find more satisfying than being able to teach someone how to use what they already know subconsciously to take control of their lives.

I started teaching the day after my enlightenment experience became public knowledge. The children from the village where our Temple was located walked over to the temple and asked me to give them a meditation class.

Before ordaining I had helped teach English at the school, and the mass excitement of my attainment and support of the school staff and students was almost overwhelming.

In the early 1990's I was ordained as a Thai Buddhist Monk who practiced in the Thai Forrest Tradition and was lucky enough to have spent time with some of the great Masters of that tradition before their passing.

In the mid 1990's I became the first Buddhist Monk to serve in any of the United States Military Chaplain Corps with the Navy Chaplain Corps in Okinawa, Japan.

After more than 25 years studying how meditation works a reinvention of meditation began several years ago, growing from the ground up right here in the United States with practical eye-opening activities that aren’t bogged down with recycled Eastern social and religious assumptions. The program is also completely free from irrelevant things like invisible energies, mysticism, magic, religion, pretentious visualizations, and/or uncomfortable body positions.

Everyone is different and has different goals. The first step is to discuss your goals and lay out a meditation plan tailored to your needs and abilities to help you reach them. Then once or twice a month we can get together either in person, using Facebook Video chat, Google Hangouts, skype, or talk on the phone to discuss your progress and make adjustments as you progress.

I've worked with people of all ages from about 3 years of age on up. Some want to learn more about themselves and have a better quality of life, needing help with stress relief, insomnia, anger management, substance abuse issues, PTSD

First, let me say that in my opinion there are very few good meditation teachers. A good meditation teacher doesn't really teach meditation, they help students set up circumstances where they can see things they easily miss without guidance.

So when interviewing someone you may want to guide you make sure they understand more than form(s) of meditation (techniques). Any teacher worth learning from will also know how it works (what is happening on a macro-psychological level) and be able to explain it and keep you informed as to how and why specific adjustments are advised as you progress.

The understanding of how meditation works is also the secret to rapid progress. Don't shortchange yourself, or sabotage your efforts, by settling for anything less.

The last couple of years I've been teaching nature-based meditation classes at a local nature preserve on Sundays.

These have resulted in the 合 Meditation Hut™ program which was created from the ground up with the comprehensive understanding of how meditation works, and fantastic real-time feedback from these meditators. Learning how it works as you meditate leads to fantastic results. In fact, it wasn't unusual to see people learning more about meditation over the course of just a couple hour-long classes than others I've known who have meditated for many years.

The hour-long classes are split into three deep relaxation meditation segments with time for questions and feedback. Among other considerations, shorter segments allowed for on-the-fly adjustments to make the most of the allotted meditation time. Some attended the classes purely for the deep relaxation experience, while others also chose to follow the at-home stress-elimination strategy as outlined during every class.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What goals do you want to work towards?

Yes, it's a very obvious question, but something that you should give some thought to before starting a meditation program. Your initial goals will change and evolve with your meditation practice, so you don't need to think about possible future goals, just the things you'd like to start with.
