About Caleb

When I was a junior in high school, I was hired to tutor a 12 year old neighbor in Geometry. It worked out extremely well because soon after, he did not need me anymore and far exceeded class expectations. Because of this positive experience, I decided to join my school's free peer to peer tutoring program, given my high GPA, academic success, and subsequent teaching experience. I've tutored over 20 students ranging from Algebra 1 to Precalculus.

About the lesson

After notifying me what they're struggling with, I like to give 3 - 5 practice problems that cover that topic ranging in difficulty which helps me gauge where they are at. Then I work with them through asking questions and explaining the concepts myself to help them understand! I believe understanding how math works makes the problem solving much mor manageable.

My favorite encounter I've had is through tiger tutoring. One day, a special needs kid came to our tutoring table. I stepped out to help him, and despite his inability to concentrate and lack of confidence, I was able to tutor him effectively in Algebra 1. He mentioned how he did not learn anything from the other tutors but after my 3 sessions with him, he kept telling the other tutors about my teaching! I still keep in touch with him today.
