About Bella

After teaching students for about 10 years now, I know that I learn just as much from them as they do from me. Tutoring is a team effort between the teacher and student, and only works if both teammates are willing to learn.

I love connecting with students, helping them get to those 'light-bulb' moments where everything falls into place. I love math and enjoy sharing that enthusiasm with others!

My mother was a high school teacher, and is now a full time professional spanish tutor. Teaching runs in the family!

I've studied math through College, and have been tutoring since I was in middle school! Many years of experience with a wide array of students.

About the lesson

My first meeting with a new student is almost always an overview of what they know, what the class is about, and what their understanding of the material is at the moment. I'm looking for holes in the students foundational knowledge--such gaps is almost always why students are having a hard time with the more complex materials.

I mostly work with high school students, but have occasionally helped younger kids (who are always fun!) as well as adults understand the principals of math.

In my expertise or not, my advise for students is the same:

Finding the right tutor is similar to finding the right therapist; not every great therapist or tutor is the right fit for you. You need to find someone you gel with, because once you are comfortable, that is when real learning and growth can begin.

I have a group of friends that meet once a week to play board games! This past week, my friends came over to my house; we ate pizza, laughed, and played a fun new game! Game night is always the highlight of my week.
