About George
Hi, my name is George Lord, and I would love to be your next tutor.
I have taken the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, and the ACT and scored 1570, 1480, and 36 on each, respectively. I have mastered the structure of each of these tests, know exactly how to time and pace through them, and know exactly how the questions are formatted. I have helped students improve their scores drastically before and can certainly do so for you or your child.
I also have a magnitude of experience with high school math, science, and AP classes. I have taken all of Connecticut's usual high school math, from Pre-Algebra to Multivariable Calculus and honors and AP Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. I've gotten an A in each of these courses, know the content like the back of my hand, and would be happy to teach you or your child exactly what they need to know to succeed.
I realize that online learning is challenging for many students, but I understand the challenges students face in online learning as a high schooler myself. I can provide students with the support and advice they need to survive and thrive during digital learning. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout digital learning and know the ins and out's of persevering in a digital environment.
I have experience working with students of all ages and with all kinds of challenges. I have tutored high schoolers and middle schoolers and have won two state-level awards for my work with students with special needs. I am confident that no matter what kind of student you are or your child is, I will provide a superb quality of teaching.
I enjoy being able to help high schoolers such as myself understand the concepts their teachers fail to teach them. The best part of my work is seeing students' visible results, either in the form of improved grades or test scores.
I started tutoring through my school's national honors society for volunteer hours and developed a liking for it. Then, out of the blue, one of my teachers recommended me to a family that was looking for a student to tutor their child in chemistry. Now I am looking to use my experience as a tutor to make money for college.
I am a high schooler with a 36 ACT and 4.0 GPA and can effectively communicate how to employ the strategies I used to achieve these. I have taken every math, chemistry, and biology class my high school has to offer with straight A's and have helped my friends do the same. No one can understand a high schooler better than a high schooler.

First, I identify the specific concepts the student struggles with. Then, I work with the student to establish goals they should expect to meet by mastering said concepts, such as a target grade for an upcoming test. I then use the resources I used to do well in my high school classes to teach the student and provide enough practice material to ensure mastery of the subject.
Many of the students I have worked with are close friends of mine. They tend to be far less academically motivated, and have a hard time organizing and structuring their studies. Since I had taken many of the classes they were taking a year before them, I was able to give them exactly what they needed to succeed in the class, since I had gone through the same class just a year prior.
Find a tutor that you can connect with! An Ivy League graduate may have the qualifications to teach you any given subject, but will they be able to effectively communicate with you?
While some students have found it challenging, I am quite fond of the digital learning model that was recently adapted in Connecticut. I believe that digital learning provides the opportunity for students to learn at a pace that fits them --fast or slow.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should know what they want to achieve through tutoring. My advice is to set specific goals, such as: "I want to get an A on my next chemistry test" or "I want to get a 30 or better on the ACT".
