About Kayla
Hi there! My name is Kayla Wilken. I am very passionate about education and student growth. I am dedicated and enthusastic about supprting children to become successful learners. I enjoy teaching so that learning is engaging, hands-on, challenging, and fun!
Currently, I am a first grade teacher at Liberty Arts Academy; this is my first year at this school. In the past, I have worked many positions that have helped me grow as an educator: lead 3rd grade teacher at Discover U Elementary; lead toddler teacher at Discover Little Miracles Childcare in MN; a nanny for multiple families; and volunteer in up to 8 classrooms throughout college.
I graduated in 2019 from Minnesota State University Moorhead with honors and a 3.94 GPA. I even had the opportunity to travel abroad learning about the Finland Education System.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with inquiries! Thank you!
The love of learning. I absolutely sharing my love of learning with students. The best feeling is seeing students' "Aha!" moments.

When working with a new student, the first step is always assessment. I need to gage where the student is at in their learning and identify their strengths/goals. Within this first step is learning about them: their likes/dislikes, motivations, and learning styles.
After I learn about my student, I begin the tutor process. We set goals and work on them; we celebrate our accomplishments.
