About Maya

I have a deep passion for mathematics and from this, I've got a desire to teach others. I am currently a college student working my way to receive a degree in Math Education. I have been tutoring for 4 years now and I love it! Although I may not have all the qualifications other tutors have it does not affect my knowledge of mathematics and my ability to teach others. I have always gotten A's in all my math classes as well as finals. I hope you will see that I am passionate about what I do and will choose to pick me. Thank you for reading and have a great day!

I love to share the passion I have for math with others. One of my favorite moments is when the student gets the "aaaaa" moment. It is when the student understands what I am teaching and say "aaaaa". I also love to see the progress my students make. I put hard work into my job so it is very satisfying to see my students get better and learn from what I am teaching.

I have been tutoring for 4 years now. In 4 years I have encountered many different students that all learn in unique ways, therefore it taught me to be adaptable when it comes to my teaching skills.

About the lesson

When working with a new student it is important to learn their strengths and weaknesses. I have worked with students who have ADD and they can find it hard to focus, therefore I change my teaching style to suit them better. I always like to start with the problems they are currently working on and asking them questions to see the length of their knowledge. I find it important to use positive reinforcement so they can gain confidence in their learning style. I know that everyone is different and I also take into account that everyone's learning style is to.
