About Gokul

I have extensive experience tutoring high school and college students on various topics such as Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Computer Science. I am passionate and love helping students become more confident with tough material.

I enjoy seeing the change in students from initial hesitation to confidence as they understand the material and master it. I enjoy seeing students love the subject as they do better and better!

I started tutoring back in high school at our Tutoring center. I then worked at Excel Test Prep as a SAT and ACT tutor as a summer intern. These experinces spurred me to look for more tutoring opporunities.

I am a Junior at Rensselaer Polytechnic Insitute and will start Medical School at Albany Medical College in the fall. I have many tutoring related experiences in various subjects and also have done well in my undergraduate classes. I therefore feel confident in my knoweldge of the material and ability to share with others.

About the lesson

I like to listen first to the student. I try to understand what has been hard for the student and their goals with the subject. Then I like to talk about what I plan on doing and then ask for feedback after each session to see if the tutoring is helping them.

I have worked with students of many differeny backgrounds and skill levels and ages. I have taught elementary schoolers and college students. I have also taught motivated students that were already doing well and students who had previously failed a class.

I would advise them to work to fully understand the material instead of trying to answer quetions on a homework or test. With the goal of understanding the material, one can work to find a way to answer any type of question.

I remember teaching a student Chemistry 1 concepts. At first, he was uncomfortable with the subject but through a period of time I was able to see him grow more comfortable with Chemistry in general. I was very happy to see that he eventually secured an internship related to Chemistry over the summer of his freshman year.
