About Madison

Hello everyone! My name is Madison Gomez and I'm a student at the university of Houston. I was a national honor society memember and received the tomball foundation scholarship 2019. I've been tutoring student for about a year now. I believe in order to achieve your maximum potential in your studies you have to get down to the basics. I cover basic math up to algebra 1. I also tutor basic reading/language arts. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns. I cannot wait to watch student grow within their education.

I started to get into tutoring my sophomore year of college. I love watching the students confident grow once they've finally overcome a certain topic that was giving them trouble.

About the lesson

When I start working with a new student I'll typically ask what certain problems/topics they need help with. I'll ask them to try and do a couple problems and gauge where I can help best.

I have worked with students ages 8-14

The best advice I can give is to find a teacher who is patient. I grew up with many teachers and would feel discouraged when impatient tutors/teachers would get frustrated when I didn't retain the information. This feeling often evolves into children having no desire to learn in fear of feeling unintelligent.

A recent event I am fond of would be Halloween! I love seeing all the creative costumes students come up with!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Student should think will this person degrade me or make me feel uncomfortable while learning? Will this person try multiple different methods of teaching in order to help me understand? Will this person ultimately benefit my learning?
