About Sharon

I love to learn and I love to teach others. I remember, as a child, correctly my grandfather's grammar. My mother must have told a neighbor girl because she interviewed me for a college paper. Also, my mother told me to act like I didn't understand certain subjects in high school. She wanted me to ask cute boys questions. I, boldly, told her that I would never do that. I told her that I preferred having the cute boys ask me how to do math, etc. I wasn't a Brainiac but I did pretty well in school although I wasn't pushed to excel like my older brothers were. I graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo. While there, I taught Spanish for two years at the Mission Training Center. After graduation, I taught High School for four years. After having our first child, I became a stay-at-home mom. I have taught piano lessons, on and off, for 26 years. I have done home school with my children the past couple of years. And, I can't help myself, but I seem to always be correctly others' grammar. Except for my family, I do it in silence. ha ha!

I like the spark that comes to students' eyes when they catch on to the subject. It builds so much confidence. I love working one on one because the student is so much more apt to ask questions. I can really check their ability to make sure they understand the concept.

I take a few minutes to get to know them. I ask them how they feel about school and how they feel about the certain subject. I reassure them that they can learn the subject with a little extra one-on-one help. I give them lots of encouragement and praise.
