About Sean
I started in tutoring at a company called The Smart Scribe, teaching math a wide range of students. This involved mainly 1 on 1 tutoring for an hour or so at a time.
I am a junior at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute studying Mathematics and Physics. I have also taught students from the elementary school to college level, going over topics ranging from basic arithmetic to precalculus and college algrebra.

I usually work to identify what areas a student is struggling in the most and address those first. This is done either by taking some practice tests on general questions or simply by asking the student where they think they need the most help. From there I like to teach them the ideas behind whatever they are working on, and reinforce their learning with plenty of example problems.
I have worked with kids in elementary school as well as a student in college an multiple high schoolers. This involved teaching a wide range of subjects in mathematics as well as prep for the SAT math section.
I would advise the student or parents of the student to not only look at the tutor's expertise, but also to consider how they will be able to make learning interesting. In additiong it is important to find someone who is dedicated to seeing the student succeed.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
A student looking to get the most out of tutoring should think about why they want to get tutored and how the tutor can help them learn more about whatever it is that they want to learn. They should think about how they will personally contribute to their own learning and use the tutor's teaching in the best way.
