About Kate

I am an experienced math teacher who has helped students of all ability levels and ages. I got started teaching after I helped some adult friends get Associates and Bachelors Degrees, as well as real estate lisences.

I love it when I see the "aha" moment, the lightbulb go on over someone's head. I can feel the student's relief of finally getting it, and the satisfying sense of accomplishment.

I have been a math teacher for about 20 years. I've taught 6th through 12th grade, and subjects include Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Pre-Algebra and 6th, 7th and 8th grade math. I could help with Pre-Cal, Calc or beyond, but I haven't worked with those areas for a while so I'd prefer to know specific topics so I can brush up on those skills before a session.

About the lesson

We can meet at a local library or we can use Google Hangouts, facetime or use a similar chat app to work online together. I prefer to work online for convenience for both of us. Cash, Venmo or Paypal accepted. If you prefer another online payment system, let me know, as I'm sure I can get an account set up.

I ask that students bring specific questions or work that they want to work through with me and discuss. The more specific the better, but we can always look up grade-level math to see where to start, if needed.

I've worked with my own children on elementary math, (including the "new" math), and professionally, I've worked with 6th-12th graders, college students, and adults who have entered programs for a degree, lisense or certification.

I have experience working with all ability levels.

Details

$50 per hour. Paypal or Venmo for online or in-person sessions. I'll accept cash for in-person meetings only. Half hour sessions for $25 are okay, too.
