About Josephine

I have always enjoyed math, starting at such a young age of 7. I have been everyone's go to gal for help with math, and I have even helped a handful of friends through middle and high school with math.

Additionally(haha), I also have helped 3 friends, respectively older than me, who have struggled with math during their college courses.

Math has always been my forte, so I've decided to broaden my scope and help others who are struggling with math. I understand that it is not the most interesting and easiest subject to grasp, but that is what I am here for :)

I enjoy seeing my students finallly understand a concert that seemed so bizarre and hard to grasp, by making it fun and showing a different way of looking at it - with respect to a teacher's standards.

It is very rewarding to see my student feel confident in their work and actually understanding the why and how behind it - that is when I know they truly grasp the concept and I was able to help them succeed.

I am a college student who took AP AB and AP BC Calculus in High school studying in business accounting (I love math, can you tell?). I have continuously helped friends and colleagues through their math courses in middle school, high school, and currently in college.

I also provide tutoring to a few referrals, who are respectively older than me, with their college math courses such as Elementary and Intermediate Algebra, and Pre-Calculus.

About the lesson

- get to know my student.
--> how/what helps them learn: are they a visual learner, or a hands on learner?

- what are their passions? (This helps me relate our lessons to something that will interest them)

- what are their biggest struggles with math. --> is it the word problems? (Yikes!) The formulas? (I know, there are too many to count) Everything?!? (It's overwhelming, but that's ok)

-target their passions with their way of learning to help them view the problem/question in a different way that will interest them & help them remember the how/why behind the concepts.

- Challenge them (even when they are right) to ensure they fully grasp and understand the lecture/concept, but asking - Why?

I have worked with students from the age of 5 through 33, more experience with students 10+.
