About Lauren
For the past 5+ years, I've worked to tutor kids of all ages and of all backgrounds. I'm an aerospace engineering major who was previously majoring in astrophysics, so I have a knowledgeable background in math, physics, and astronomy. I know what it's like to struggle understanding a topic; I relied heavily on tutoring to get myself through high school math and always felt lost in classes. It was in college that I found a love for math and physics--topics that I used to despise. Because of this, I strongly believe that all kids can change their grades and understanding of topics if they just find the right "spark". I try as hard as I can to engage kids in the deeper applications of math and phyics ideas and show them that it's not just about having to remember a method but rather understanding why that method is in place and how to manipulate it to solve a puzzle. I truly believe that anybody can "do" harder subjects such as math, physics, astronomy, etc. as long as they have the right approach.
I absolutely love working with kids. From the day I began working at age 15, I've loved helping kids learn and creating a safe environment for them to do so. I've had people who have helped me in the past realize that I can do more than what I thought that I could, and I would love nothing more than to help others realize that as well.
