About Bethany
I am good at explaining math, not just good at math myself. There is a difference! I have spent over 16 years successfully explaining math. There is definitely a difference between understanding math and being able to help someone else learn it. I have over 16 years of classroom experience teaching High School math. I enjoy students and helping them understand math questions. I have a Masters degree in Education and a Bachelors degree in Mathematics. You can find me at (concealed information)
I enjoy the relationship with the students. They are so much more than just the math problem in front of us. I love hearing about the interests and issues.
I always loved explaining math to my fellow struggling classmates while in school. I then went to college to study how to teach it well.

Introduce myself and find out what they are stuck on. I use alot of humor to create a relaxed atmosphere.
All ages, races, and abilities. Truly. I taught outside of NYC for 10 years, then I moved to Atlanta to a private school where I taught for 6. I have taught special education courses to AP Calculus courses.
Find out if they are a teacher v.s. just someone good at math. You need someone who can explain math and someone that can predict what your teacher is going to want you to do for a test, etc.
I participated with my boyfriend in the Latern Parade. It takes place at night and you follow a marching band down a hill to a park. We made paper laterns and lit them with LED string lights to put in the river when we got to the park. It was amazing fun!
