About Robert

NYS Certified Grades 7-12. I have worked at a public high-school for twenty-three years. During this time I have tutored students privately in grade levels 1-12 and also college level courses. I have also tutored through the BOCES program in my area for students on medical and discipline homebound programs. I have openings now for late afternoons / evenings on weekdays and also weekend mornings; both on-line and in-person.

I value the one on one connections I make with each student toward meeting their academic goals in relaxed and friendly interactions. I am also available for summer tutoring for enrichment or for test preparation for Regents Exams. Thank you.

Twenty years of teaching experience in a public school, district and BOCES sponsored tutoring for medical and other home-bound students, and private tutoring.

About the lesson

I determine the needs, goals, and expectations of the student and parent. Understanding past and current performance of the student in math and the student's attitude and confidence level can promote a meaningful initial interaction with a new student. Inquiring about the child's interests in school and out of school helps to build a connection that can be used to bring relevance to the skills being developed.

Perfect! Rob teaches math for a living. Keep that in mind when choosing a tutor because not everyone who is good at math knows how to teach it to someone else. Rob was flexible to offer the tutoring virtually which was helpful with our busy and variable weekly schedule. He made it easy to upload his assignments and content and use virtual classroom options to work with him each week. I can't say enough about Rob's support-my son frequently mentioned that he wished Rob was his high school teacher because he learned so easily from him! Highly recommend!

Mr. Healy has an excellent knack for problem solving and working step by step with the student to reach the final answer, all while ensuring the student actually understands the methods being taught. Mr. Healy tutored me when I was in high school, I was not the easiest student to deal with. He patiently worked with me and got me where I needed to be to pass that year. Fast forward to this year, my 5th grader was struggling in math and we knew just who to call.
