About Taminah

I will work with my clients on any day of the week. I care that much about helping people succeed in the world. I am certified in teaching mathematics for elementary and middle school grades, only. I have my master's degree in teacher education.

I see my work as helping other people, teaching them. While teaching, I am also learning from those who I am teaching. I want to grow to be as knowledgeable as I possibly can.

I began in college. I took a course where I would observe a 6th grade math teacher teacher. From that moment on, I settled on the idea that my purpose in life is to teach. I love to learn and I love to teach. I took several education and psychology courses to get to where I am now.

I have a masters degree in elementary and middle school mathematics from Rutgers University.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I'd like to get to know them first. By learning more about them, I would learn the type of learner they are or would learn their strengths and weaknesses. During each visit, I aim to have my students practice reasoning their answers.

I have worked with general education students and some students with 504s. I try to get to learn my students ahead of time, to determine ways to teach them.

I would suggest for the student to look for tutor who is patient and is willing to learn.

A recent event that I am fond of was when a student told me that I am the reason that they understand math even more.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What is simple for me? What is complex for me? What should I do with what I learn? How can I retain the information that I learn? Do I need additional materials and what are those additional materials?
