About Andrea

I am a current Junior at Cornell University, majoring in Animal Science. Over the years I have been a peer tutor in subjects such as Latin and Chemistry, which only further highlight my strengths in both English and Science overall. I have also been a tutor for various aspects of math ranging from Algebra to Trigonometry. Because I am still a student, I have the benefit of being able to reach other students with the mindset of a student which makes me more relatable.

I enjoy working with students and unleashing their full potential! I enjoy watching the shift in students as they begin to master a subject they once struggled in. The new found light in their eyes is not only one of knowledge, but of a new found confidence.

I began tutoring in high school as a peer tutor.

I have been not only a peer tutor, but also a private tutor for about 8 years.

About the lesson

I like to start out with an initial brief session of just getting to know both the parent and the student. We can discuss hobbies and even dreams, and this way I am able to tailor the lessons specifically for the student in a way that they could find relatable.

The first official session would consist of a brief diagnostic test in accordance with the school curriculum, so I can get a better sense of where the student is and where there is room for improvement. From there, I will organize an action plan that I feel best suits the student’s specific needs and I will share this plan with the parent so I can get their input. Enhacing the student's knowledge is a collaborative effort!

I have worked with students that struggled with speaking English to those who are dyslexic and struggle with reading.
