About Abid
As a teacher of 10 years, an assistant principal for 2, I have experience and understanding in how to help children and adults learn. I have experience in the classroom, large groups, small groups, and one on one tutoring.
I love seeing the lightbulb moments: when something clicks, it makes the hard work worth it. I'm patient, empathetic, and I work hard to personalize instruction to fit your needs.
Seeing students succeed is what I work for. A student who initially struggles, but slowly learns, through patience and persistence, and eventually succeeds- that drives me.
I've been tutoring since I was in college, and it naturally translated into teaching bigger groups in the classroom.
I'm a math teacher at the number 1 ranked high school in New York State, and fifth nationally: Townsend Harris High School. I have been teaching math at the high school level for 5 years now. Before Townsend, I taught in Richmond Hill High school.
Prior to this, I tutored privately for 8 years in a variety of subjects, including math going from elementary school through Calculus. I've also tutored for the SAT exam for years.
I'm licensed both in Mathematics and in Students with Disabilities.

I always start by performing a comprehensive diagnostic on student needs. Having information on how and where to customize instruction makes tutoring far more effective. I also work to get to know my students, so we have a relationship of trust and understanding. That, combined with effective instruction, is a recipe for success!
I've worked with students of all ages! The youngest being 6 and the oldest being 44. I've also worked with students of varying abilities; high performing students and struggling students all could expect customized instruction to fit THEIR personal needs.
Chemistry matters! Find a tutor who is not only qualified, but someone you trust and could get along with. Having an environment of ease, where you could comfortable make mistakes and learn from them is crucial! That will only happen with someone you click with.
