About Eliza

Since as a child, my passion was Mathematics. I would sit for hours and solve problems instead of playing outside with the other kids. Along the years, I tutored many of my school peers, enrolled in advanced and gifted student’s classes and won several national Olympiads in Europe. I have a Bachelor degree in International Law and one in Criminal Justice. Besides tutoring online, I am following my dream and I am studying to become a Math teacher. I believe that it is not only important but crucial to understand the basics of Math in order to be able to apply logic to various fields we might want to choose to work in. Please, feel free to contact me for any questions you might have. As Galileo Galilei said once: “If I were again beginning my studies, I would follow the advice of Plato and start with mathematics”.

I have started tutoring since I was 10 years old. My 14 years old cousins were having troubles with Algebra, and because I was already taking high school level classes at that age, we decided that I should help them out. That is when I discovered my real passion for Math and for teaching it.

I have studied Mathematics for 20 years, tutored advanced classes since I was 10 years old, won different competitions and Olympiads, and couched many individuals in the last 10 years in this field.

About the lesson

The process of establishing a good and healthy relation between my students and me is to first determine the needs of the student and what they are interested in learning. The second step is to analyze their current knowledge and come with a plan that fits their needs, schedule, time allocated and method of studying, including the desired online learning platform.

I have worked with different type of students, starting with people older than me and ending up with 4-5 years old kids. I have also worked with different nationalities; speaking fluently 5 languages, it has helped me communicate with students better.

My advice for any student who wants to hire a Math tutor is to have a few minutes discussion and talk about the needs and realistic goals of the student. An important step is to evaluate where the student is in that moment and where they want to be and develop a well detailed plan.

One particular event that comes in my mind is when I was 14 years old and I have won a local math competition. My entire family was there for the first time and that is when they have realized my natural skills in this field.
