About Ashley

I stand out because I am a young person (21 years old), who has a heart for math and science! ready and willing to help any young student who may have a future love for STEM or is seeking assistance in this field.

I have taken many ranges of courses throughout my school life and currently am in the Navy (since 2018) as a hull technician, and soon will be majoring in physics and minor in math.

From a very young age up until about 5th grade I struggled with basic math, believe or not! and a tutor changed my whole life

I was very insecure and dreaded going to school in fear of being ridiculed or called names, with this tutor I gained so much confidence and just began to excel in math ever since then... all because someone believed in me and had faith.

With that being said that inspired me and I now strive to make people feel secure within school and going forward in life.

I started tutoring in middle school, helping a lot of my peers and younger peers with any troubles they may have had and I was inspired to help because in my lower elementary school days I was tutored and that changed my life since then. I sprouted in math and it showed, so I want to pass that on for as long as I can; especially because I know math can be an insecurity for a lot of students.

I graduated from a blue ribbon school district in 2018, located in West Windsor-Plainsboro, NJ(WWP regional school district) with an excellent STEM curriculum

After that I joined the US Navy where I am now a hull technician, currently working towards starting school to major in physics and minor in math to eventually be an aerospace engineer along with NASA.

About the lesson

First and foremost getting to know the student for who they are as a person is the most important component to tutoring, this is becuase it allows me to see what their strengths are as well as weaknesses, how they are as a learner, it helps pin point what their need is and most of all that interpersonal connection makes the student more comfortable and receptive to learning!

From that point on I make it my duty to start with a curriculum or schedule for them depending on how many times a week they need tutoring which involves exercises, to do's and hands on teaching. (although every student is different and often will require different attention)

Look for a tutor who wants to go beyond the schoolwork, because the art of learning is more than the surface. From my experience I have noticed every student is different and need specific types of attention. Being interpersonal and getting to know the student beyond the school-work can spark a desire to learn within the student therefore making all the difference.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I always advise students to think about what they want out of asking questions. Ultimately think about the type of outcome that they'd like.

And never be afraid to ask a question!

Typically I charge $20/hour if the session is needed beyond an hour.

If 1 hour or less I charge a base of $40

This is all is inclusive of the prep time and the personal one on one I have with each of my students.
