About Devany

My tutoring services are specifically tailored to the student as I take previous assesments and assignements to determine what areas need revision. I am also available any time of the day to answer homework questions that the student may have. I am very empathetic towards my students as I understand the difficulty of feeling intellectualy inadequate inthe classroom; ususally teachers will cater towards the majority of the classroom in their teaching methods, but do not specifically focus on students that learn differently. As a tutor, I will address the issue and teach the student through methods that work for them as opposed to the majority.

I enjoy assisting students in feeling worthy and inteligent, since many find incredible value in their academic performance. It brings me so much joy when a student understands a concept that they could not understand before. In providing guidqance and knowledge to the student, they are further motivated to perform well in school, which brings immense value to my job as a tutor.

My teachers noticed that I was performing very well in my classes and asked me to tutor some of my classmates after school. I am also contributing to tutoring services such as Online Academia for community service hours.

I have taken the following courses related to Math: Basic Arithmetic, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1, Accounting, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, and am currently taking Calculus 2.

About the lesson

I usually will ask for the latests report in the subject I am tutoring in (includes assignments, quizzes, etc.) If necessary, I will contact the teacher with the parent's permission to gain more information on the student's struggles in the subject. After I identify the problem area, I will bring an assesment of my own and determine what areas the student is struggling in; this allows me to develop a course plan that specifically addresses the student's problem areas.

I have primarily worked with students in high school and a few who are in middle school (5th-8th). Students in MIddle School are easier to tutor as they usually study basic levels of math.

I would advise a student to look within their organization or someone close to their age, as this will help establish a sense of familiarity in the tutoring session. A tutor who is empathetic and willing to relearn a topic themselves is a crucial quality in a tutor as this will improve the performance of the student.

Since I am in closer contact with my classmates who I tutor, I have the privilege of seeing the impact that tutoring has on others. Last year, I helped my classmate Christian receive a perfect score on his Geometry exam. I always knew that Christian was intelligent, all he required was some additional revision in order to pass the exam.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would recommend the student to consider whether they have exhausted all the resources they have available to them before asking the teacher for help; this will allow the student to be aware of what it is that they need and will make the teacher's job easier.

Details

It usually depends on the subject the student is studying, especially on the difficulty of the subject. For example, tutoring for Algebra 1 will cost more than Basic Arithmetic. Usually for more basic levels of math, I will charge $18 per hour and for more advanced levels of math, I will charge $22 per hour.
