About Erin

I just graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kalamazoo College with a double major in both math and physics (with honors in physics). During my time in college, I was a physics TA for two years, and I tutored some students in small groups or one on one.

I can help with any math through Calculus. If you need tutoring in math beyond that, I can potentially help, but it just depends on the class! I am also available to tutor physics. I have the most experience as a tutor for introductory physics. Additionally, I have experience with AP courses.

I have also worked with young children. Although I have not tutored math before with young kids, I have taught swim lessons and coached swimming.

I most enjoy seeing students improve and become more confident. I know that math and physics can be an area of struggle for a lot of students, but it is so exciting when it starts becoming fun or when something clicks! I love that! I also just love seeing people become more confident in their math skills.

I started tutoring because I was a TA at my college. I helped students in the classroom as a TA, I also tutored some people one on one or in small groups.

I have a math and physics double major and graduated with honors from Kalamazoo College. I was also a TA in the physics department.

About the lesson

First I just want to understand their goals, do they want to get a better and deeper understanding of the subject? Do they need help passing a class? Do they want to be more confident in the subject area? ... And then see where they stand in terms of reaching that goal and working from there. I also just want to establish a level of trust. I want everyone I work with to feel comfortable about asking questions and being confused. There are no bad questions and I like to establish that environment right away.

I have mainly worked with college level students, although I have experience working with young children through swim lessons.
