About Surina

Hi! My name is Surina and I am currently a sophomore at Chapman University, majoring in Finance. I attended Oxford Academy for high school, and completed math courses up to AP Calculus BC. I have a passion for working with children and teaching students, as I have volunteered at a library and have tutored kindergarteners in math and English.

I have always loved working with children. I started in 6th grade when I would help the kindergarteners with English and math.

I volunteered at a library for 3 summers, where I helped elementary students learn to read. Additionally, I have experience in tutoring kindergarten students in basic math and English. Through being the Miss Anaheim Teen Ambassador in high school, I worked with underpriviledged children as well.

I have always loved math and numbers. In elementary school, I went to Kumon for 5 years. In high school, I have taken Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus AB and BC.

About the lesson

I first get to know my student to learn about their learning style and which methods are most effective for them. I try to connect the subject to real world applications to allow my student to further understand the material. I make sure to always be patient and understanding when working with students.

I have worked mostly with elementary students between the ages of 5-11, and I really enjoy working with them.

I would recommend the student to find someone who is not only knowledgable about the subject, but also compatible with you. You want a teacher who can relate and help you grow at your own pace and learning styles.

In high school, I was the Miss Anaheim Teen Ambassador. Through this position, I volunteered at an event where I helped wrap and deliver Christmas presents for underpriviledged children. This event taught me the importance of appreciating everything I have. It was memorable and rewarding to see these children's faces light up when we gave them the presents.
