About Dylan

I have a decent amount of experience tutoring people. Its not been too long since I've been in school, so the conecpts aren't as rusty as they may be for someone who hasn't been to school in ten to twenty years. I'm comfortable using both the internet and in-person tutoring.

I'm not paying for this platform just yet, so feel free to contact me through e-mail: (concealed information)

I enjoy the feeling that I'm using something I excel at to help someone who may not be as comfortable. Using a gift God gave me to help others, essentially. I enjoy the feeling of success, when the student is able to answer a question that they were hesitant to before. I enjoy the feeling when a student takes a test after tutoring, and passes with a good score.

Originally, I tutored people when I was a Junior in High School. I didn't do it for money, I did it for community service hours. I would typically tutor people from Middle to early High School. Never tutored people my own age unless we were in the same class, then it was more of a study group. I became a paid tutor for Lake-Sumter about a year ago. I had a firm grasp on conecpts of College Algebra and below, so it seemed like a great fit. A year later, and I'm still working for them.

1.) I am the Salutatorian of Leesburg High School.

2.) I have worked for over a year as a Math Emporium Peer Assistant for Lake-Sumter State College.

3.) I have tutored Math on and Off for around 3 years now, but employed in the past year.

4.) Currently a Math Major at the University of Central Florida.

5.) I have my Associates of Arts Degree from Lake-Sumter State College.

Meeting in a public building such as a library. They will either bring review questions for an upcoming test or the homework assignment they are currently working on. From there, we will go through each question step-by-step. I may even make my own questions if I need to cover a topic more thoroughly.

I don't typically work with students in Elementary or Middle school. I usually work with High School to College students. For me, the one thing I will not tolerate is a student who does not want to be there. I have no trouble helping someone who is struggling with a subject, as long as they do their best. If someone is giving me an attitude, not interested.

You need to find one that can communicate fairly well. You definitely don't want someone who will be fustrated if you make a mistake, so patience is a key factor. One thing I reccommend for you is to try your best and think about what the tutor trying to tell you. You may ask them questions, which they will respond with another, probably simpler question. This is all in the effort to lead you to the answer, without just giving it to you. Otherwise, you wouldn't learn.

Probably tutoring a young man who went to the same church as me. He was a sophmore in High School taking Algebra 2. We would meet in the library and go over review questions for his upcoming test. He was very attentive, but also friendly, making the session easy and relaxed. He took his test, got a decent score, and that was that. Ended quicker than expected, but thats kind of what I strive for.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Look over the concepts you are confident in, and the ones you are not. A tutor can go over both, but may want to put more emphasis on the ones you are not as comfortable in. Definitely bring questions related to whatever chapter/unit you are covering. Examples are great to establish how the concepts can be applied.

Since I do not have my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics yet, I'm planning on $15/hour. I may change it, the farther I go into my studies, but at the moment I'm fine with $15/hour.
