About Eric

I've been tutoring college students since 2015 in a variety of math and accounting courses. I am most qualified for Intermediate Accounting I and II, as well as Math courses from College Algebra through Calculus I.

I previously worked at the Student Learning Assistance Center at Texas State University as a tutor in the Math and Business sections from 2015 through 2017. I also have two years of public accounting experience at Deloitte. Currently, I am a Graduate Student studying Computer Science.

I like helping people really understand things. There are few things in life as fulfilling as learning and growing, and few things as frustrating as feeling lost. It's my goal to help with both, and I find that extremely rewarding.

As a student, I learned quickly and often helped others in study groups that I would be a part of. From there, I got involved with the tutoring center and received referals for private tutoring from the university.

I have completed tutor training through the Student Learning Assistance Center at Texas State University as part of my employment there. I also have several years experience with tutoring a variety of college students in different courses in both private and group settings.

About the lesson

I generally start by asking a lot of questions, getting to know where they are in the course, and what they may need help with. Once I know where we are at, I'll ask about current assignments or topics that we can work through as a starting point. This helps me to make sure I am providing relelvant instruction, as well as not covering information already known.

Mostly college students. Some experience with high school and middle school students.

If after a couple of lessons you feel like you aren't getting much out of your tutoring sessions, consider looking for a new teacher. The dynamic between student and tutor should be comfortable, but also needs to be productive. You are paying for it, after all.

Also, being good at a subject doesn't always translate to being good at explaining the subject. That is a skill all its own.

I recently moved to Utah. I am very happy to be near mountains again.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It's helpful to know what areas you are struggling with. Is it specific types of problems that are difficult? Is it whole topics? Is it the class in general? The more information you can give your tutor/teacher about what you are struggling with, the better they will be able to help you.
