About Gabriel

I'm active duty navy and have a passion for helping people overcome things that are standing in their way. I know how difficult it can be to prepare for standardized tests while also juggling college applications and all the extracurriculars students are engaged in so I decided I wanted to work with students in my spare time to help them through that process. As a high school national merit scholar and Naval Academy graduate I've decided the best way to do that was through SAT/ACT math tutoring. Since starting this venture I've helped students increase their SAT math scores by over 200 points.

I had a few tutors growing up who were extremely helpful to my efforts doing well in school and getting into college. In college I often needed help with certain subjects and used to trade off tutoring/study help with friends who were best suited for different topics. It made me very comfortable with teaching and reviewing for tests and showed me it was something I really enjoyed doing.

I have a Bachelor's of Science from the Naval Academy and a variety of unprofessional tutoring experience before working on this site in physics, math, and standardized test prep.

About the lesson

Typically when working with a new student I like to tackle some practice tests together, just to see where exactly it is worth focusing our efforts. Test prep especially is more about reviewing and practicing other concepts than teaching new material so it's all about finding specific limitations and solving them.

I've worked with high school students and college students at all stages of preparation for their tests - from people who are already very competitive to those just getting started. I am happy to further expand toward other groups and am happy to answer questions about what I can and can't help with.

There are a lot of amazing tutors on this site, find someone who fits your needs. For instance as a recent graduate I'm probably not the best option for very advanced college math when this site also has long-term professors. Conversely I'm very available to students and often give a lot of insight as someone who's intimately familiar with college applications and standadized test-taking strategy.
