About James
We provide comprehensive help for students taking undergraduate, introductory statistics courses.
Oftentimes, students are overwhelmed learning statistics if they are in a soft-science field such as psychology.
In addition, students often do not have the opportunity prior to the course to become familiar with statistical software.
Our goal at Smug Duck Tutoring is to help students in these introductory statistics courses not only succeed -- but completely understand the underlying statistical concepts that will help them well down the road in their academic careers.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Humboldt State University in 2009.
I have a Master's degreee in Social Psychology from Humboldt State University in 2009.
I am a Doctoral Candidate in Quantitative Psychology from the University of California, Merced.
I have either taught, lectured, or been a teaching assistant for dozens of statistics courses of various types over the years.

I first like to know exactly what types of topics and problems that a student is working on. For instance, are they working with probability, descriptive statistics, or inferential statistics?
Furthermore, are the students taking an applied statistics course (e.g., in the areas of Psychology, Sociology, etc.), or a theoretical mathematics course?
Finally, are the students taking a lower-division or upper-division (that is, graduate-level) statistics course.
This is all pertinent information for me to provide the most tailored lesson plan during our tutoring sessions.
