About Jakob
I began by tutoring my fellow students at my University in calculus and classical physics which led to mentoring and tutoring in the fields of math, physics, engineering, computer science, and graphic design.
I am currently a senior physics student at the University of Texas San Antonio and have in depth experience in the fields of mathematics, physics, and engineering.

Firstly, I have the student fill out a quick survey to find out what topics they are struggling with as well as what topics they feel confident in/enjoy in order to build a tutoring plan. I then meet with the student and in the first session focus on getting an idea of the student's acumen in the topic as well as the student's goals in the topic. In further sessions we then focus on improving comprehension in the subject as well as finding tools for the student to learn more effectively in the future.
Mostly college students including humanities and STEAM majors.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The most important question to ask yourself before going to a teacher is what your goal is in terms of understanding the topic you are struggling with. For instance, if you are struggling with derivatives and you only need to understand derivatives in order to pass the class you are currently in, that goal can be achieved in a different and more efficient way than if your goal is a true understanding of derivatives so that you will have a strong foundation for an engineering career. Sometimes a teacher will be able to help you clarify your real goal. However, thinking about that question for yourself before approaching a teacher will be very helpful.

Details
My first session, including the preemptive assessment, is priced at a flat $25. After the first session, all subsequent sessions are priced at $20 per hour during the week and $25 per hour on weekends.
