About Megha

Currently, as a Finance Major at Rutgers Business School, I do not have many opportunities to engage in math. Since I was a kid and all of my high school career, I had a unique attraction to math and the complexity of it. I have always had a love for teaching math to others, it has always been a passion to help others learn in words that are easy to understand, as math does not come as easy to some kids as others. It is important for me to learn how a person learns in order to be able to help them. I have learned up to calculus 2 and gotten AP credits for calculus 1 and 2. I am taking certifications in math online.

It is great satisfaction when students successfully improve in an area they were struggling in due to my efforts. It is a good feeling knowing I was able to help other people with my skills.

I was a tutor in Kumon for 2 years and a tutor at my high school for 3 years.

I have high AP Calculus I and II scores and have consistently scored high in math classes. I have tutored at Kumon Learning Center from kindergarten level math up to Calculus.

About the lesson

First and foremost, I will ask the student which concept they have the most trouble with and go to the root of the misunderstanding they already have. Based on the level of math, I will find a commonly used textbook and breakdown the course material chapter by chapter. Using an example to explain the process of how the concept is done and then use more practice problems to reinforce the concept. I will also explain what the concept is used for and its purpose in math and real life.

I have taught kindergarten-age students all the way up to Seniors in high school in higher-level math.

The difference between a school teacher and a tutor is that a teacher has a rigid curriculum and will try their best that you understand the subject moving at a constant speed. A tutor will slow down and find each issue the student is having, evaluate why, and find unique ways to help each student in a way they will understand better.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about specific concepts they have trouble with and ways that do and do not help them learn. It is important the student is comfortable with the way they are learning.

Details

I will charge a price per hour based on the difficulty of the math. $20/hour for all levels of math except Calculus I and II. Calculus I and II will have a charge of $30/hour.
