About Nadine

From my personal experience with ADHD, I understand how challenging math can be. I promise to work together as we explore the field of mathematics in ways that makes sense to you.

My name is Nadine Wetzler and I am a Math Major at Montgomery College. I previously worked as a learning assistant for a college level Calculus 1 course where I was trained to optimize students' online learning environment.

As your tutor I am devoted to finding answers together while strengthening your motivation, confidence, and curiosity in mathematics.

I have been teaching since I could talk. As a child I taught Sunday School to my peers, with the assistance of my mother of course. Currently I am also a rock climbing coach at my local climbing gym. My childlike curiosity, adaptive, and empethetic qualities contribute to my passion for mentoring.

I have up to college level Calculus 2 and I am currently in Differential Calculus. I was previously a Learning Assistant for a college-level Calculus 1 course.

About the lesson

First, I like to introduce myself so the student feels more comfortable and looks to me as a peer rather than an all knowing teacher.
Second, if the student is reluctant to sharing their struggles I will always lead discussions with open-ended questions such as "What was the most interesting thing you learned last class?". This alows me to follow up with "What was the most difficult part?" which usually sets the main idea of our session.
At the end of the session I will encourage students to remind me what we worked on so they can have a written list of all our accomplishments that day as well as topics that need improvement.

As a Learning Assistant I worked with students aged 16-30+. From my experience as a coach I also know how to work with students from ages 6-18.
