About Dori
Dori is a supportive math tutor with years of experience & references. Dori has a passion for helping kids succeed. She has led struggling students rise to see A+'s, honour rolls, & university scholarships. Dori tutors Math for all grades K-12, specializing in MATH for middle and high school, GED, SAT, and ACT. Dori peer-tutored math throughout middle and high school. After earning an Engineering Diploma, Dori studied a Finance. By 2nd year of her Bachelor of Commerce Degree, St. Mary's University in Halifax hired Dori to become an Official Tutor of the University for Math, Finance, Calculus, and Computer Applications.
Experience:
For the past five years, my primary profession has been as a Private Tutor for Math, primarily for grades 4-12. My areas of specialization are in the Spirit of Math Program for grades 1-6 and in Ontario Math curriculum for grades 6-12. You can check out my website: missdoritutoring.com.
Prior to tutoring math professionally, I taught ballroom dance to grades 4-6 in both the TDSB & Catholic school systems in Toronto. The program was offered through Dancing Classrooms (showcased in the films Mad Hot Ballroom and Take the Lead). I have also taught Latin dance to adult learners since 2013.
Prior to tutoring math & teaching dance, I had a successful 15-year career in Banking and Investments. I worked as a Product Manager and as an Investment Communications Manager at the head-offices for Canada's two largest banks: RBC and TD. I also worked for the Canadian regulator for investment fund oversight (MFDA), and for Canada's central bank, the Bank of Canada.
Education:
I graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, Finance Major from St. Mary's University in Halifax. I also completed a cross-discipline Engineering Diploma from Dalhousie University, as well as a French Proficiency Certification from George Brown College. I've earned a number of math-related investment courses (eg. CSC, CFA Level 1, etc.). In addition, I've studied American Sign Language and am able to sign with deaf students.
Police Check:
I have the regular police check in addition to the more in-depth Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) to be able to work with children & the elderly. I also have references from both parents and students.

I have previously worked with students of all ages from grades 1-12. However, I specialize in teaching math to grades 6-12 and GED, SAT, & ACT math.
I have also worked with a wide range of students from gifted children taking the Spirit of Math program, to those with IEPs and Learning Disabilities (LDs) such as Dyslexia, ADD / ADHD, Spacial Awareness difficulties, etc.
