About Naomi

Strong aptitude in math of all types, especially algebraic. Knack for explaining complicated procedures in simple ways. Passion for math and eagerness to share it with others. Also very proficient in grammar/proofreading and with state standardized testing.

Math is something I do for fun. I enjoy the puzzle-type aspect of solving a problem, as well as the fact that there is always a right answer. Arithmetic and patterns are my specialty. I am also a huge reader, which has innately given me a strong proficiency in grammar and proofreading, and I hope to help passionate and ambivalent writers alike to sharpen their writing skills and appear more professional in their assignments.

I have a great passion for both mathematics and grammar. It can be difficult for a student struggling in either of these subjects to keep up as the curriculum moves forward, especially in a crowded classroom. I hope to use my natural talents in these subjects to personalize a lesson plan for any child who is facing this issue, as I firmly believe one-on-one sessions in these subjects can be extraordinarily helpful. I also have always done well on standardized tests, with a 635 on my PSATs (out of 800 possible) and a 2190 on my SATs, and I am full of tips and tricks to make navigating the tricky world of standardized testing as painless as possible.

A fifth-grade client was very nervous about an upcoming standardized test to apply to middle schools (common in New York City), and I was informed after a few sessions with him that I had eased his mind considerably and that several specific tricks I taught him had come in handy while taking (and doing well on) the test.

Same as above -- a teacher is going to be much more able to help a student who has specific questions than someone who just wants to be taught the lesson one more time. However, I can also help with pinpointing the area of confusion.
