About Karina
I've been working in public education for 6 years now in both middle school and high school. I pride myself in demystifying math and helping all my students believe in their capacity. Math is not about memorizing equations and repetition. Its about knowing how to think critically! I've taught pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra II, Geometry, and SAT math. In 2018, 100% of my students got a 5/5 on their Algebra I regents, even making an appearance on Fox 5, NY Post, and the local news channel 12. Scholars that I've tutored SAT math to average a 700/800 on that section. I believe that every person can excel in math, goven the right support. I'm excited to be able to be your support!
I worked at a 7th and 8th grade pre-algebra and Algebra I teacher for three years. I've worked as the Dean of Mathematics at a Charter School for the last three years as well as tutoring SAT math, Geometry and Algebra II.

I like to get insight into what work their teacher has been assigning them, their grades, and recent tests/quizzes. Once I'm clear on their baseline, I'm able to decide what work to assign and what trajectory we'll take.
