About Brooklyn
I offer a wide variety of skills within both the math and science field, I also do ACT training and have gotten a 31 on the ACT myself and love to help students achieve the same results I did. I have a very relaxed yet professional teaching style and always make sure to explain subjects in short, easy to understand lessons. My strongest areas include, maths such as Pre-Algebra through College Algebra, and Trigonometry (I also know entry level calculus). My strongest areas in science include Chemisty, AP Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Anatomy, and Physiology (I also know AP Biology, just not as well as the others). As I mentioned I got a 31 on my ACT, with a 28 on my math and a 32 on my science. I've had a lot of experience tutoring, I participate in the A plus program at my high school, tutoring for classes such as Chemistry, AP theatre, and General maths. I've had nothing but great experiences with tutoring and every student I've tutored has obtained terrific academic results.
I started in my schools A plus program and found that I have a knack for it.
While I'm only a senior in high school, I've taken all of the advanced maths and sciences at my school, I have a 4.2 weighted GPA and am already accepted into an advanced program to earn my degree in pre-med biology. I have a lot of tutoring experiences and have always been told that I have a great way of explaining things to students who are usually frusterated and tired of not being able to understand their schoolwork.

First I ask them what subject(s) they are needing help in, after that I have them tell me what they are wanting to accomplish and what they're looking to learn from me. I base my lessons on the need of the students, if it's in maths I will explain the concept to them before giving them a number of similar practice problems and then have them work out the problem(s) in question. If they're unable to solve the problem, I will give them a step by step rundown of the solution. When it comes to science I start with the same way, I ask them what they need help with and I also ask what they already know about the subject. When it comes to science I like to put together short lessons and give the students a lot of different references to help them fully comprehend the lesson. At the end of the lessons I help the students with any homework they need assisstance on, I make sure that they leave with a deep understanding of what they came here for all while putting little pressure and stress on the student. I believe that learning new things is an exciting and wonderful experience, no one should feel bad for not understanding a subject, and I'm here to break them down in an easy understandable way that allows the student to concentrate on furthering their knowledge and having fun at the same time.
I usually work with students who are either younger than me or are in a credit recovery class, these are kids who have short attention spans, low drive, and a short temper when it comes to education.
Always know what you want to learn going into a lesson, a tutor is there to help and clarify subjects for you, not confuse you further. If you feel like you're not learning what you need to, don't be afraid to express this to them. The most important thing is to not be stressed, like I said, tutors are here to help, we know that nothing comes out of frusteration and I promise we are here with your best interest in mind.
A recent event would be with one of my credit recovery students who was trying to complete a credit for algebra one, I was giving a lesson on how to complete problems with 3 equations and 1 solution, this student had been stuck on the same lesson for weeks and was clearly frusterated with the lesson. I was able to break down the lesson into clear concise steps and in the end the student was relieved and wouldn't stop telling me how simple it seemed after my assisstance.
