About Joseph

As I went through my journey in school I have had to teach my peers many things as I worked alongside them. I built patience and a love of teaching during this time. As I entered the ninth grade my time learning was greatly influenced by my tutoring of my fellow students as I was seated next to students to do so. This time greatly impacted my learning experience and I hope it can impact my students' learning experiences as well.

I am new I have graduated from high school with honors and I am a student on scholarship to Morgan State University.

About the lesson

I begin with a question on specific challenges the student is facing and looking into what foundational or core parts of the problem need immediate addressing. I then test them on the concept to get an idea of where in the process they get confused. Following an identification of the area of issue I focus my tutoring on that specific section until it is down moving on until the core focus is the last thing to do. I then explain the process and applications of prior knowledge to the present assignment.

I have worked with students from elementary school to the 10th grade though the majority of my time was with 7th-10th graders.

I would recommend looking for teachers that have experience and knowledge of the subject in addition to teaching experience. Sadly I am lacking in both so I am not a very good option for a professional tutor.

I was helping a college freshman with her College algebra specifically piecewise and linear functions and she was very happy with her improvement.

What problems have my peers faced with regards to this and how did they overcome the problems? What problems did I have before and can my solutions to those problems help me hede? What things that I have already learned can help me with this new subject?

I am a very new tutor as of now so I will not be charging the standard rate. I will charge $15 an hour for now.
