About Adalena
I have a memory for details like a steel trap and a great one-on-one teaching style. I have done very well academically and am ready to start passing on my skills and strategies to students. Since I'm still immersed in the scholarly world, I can relate well to the struggles to learn and retain knowledge. My best quality as a teacher is the ability to break down complicated concepts into parts that build to a comprehensive whole.
Currently enrolled at St Olaf College, I have 5 years of customer service and 4 years of professional writing experience. I have also worked as a Teacher's Assistant for 1 year.

I love passing on my knowledge to others, especially since I find that I understand a subject better as I explain it. I'm always surprised at how my students teach me with their unique points of view. Just as I learned about English by learning French, I learn French by teaching it!

The first step is to get to know my student: their strongest and weakest skills, their learning style, and what they want to get out of our lessons.
Next I assess what they know already; a big part of teaching is cultivating what other teachers have laid down as groundwork and what the student has taught themselves. From there, we can build up fundamentals and add nuance ad infinitum.
