I usually ask for the student to send me their work that they have trouble on 30 minutes in advance to our session, so that I can look over the material and setup a plan. Then, I ask the student for specific trouble areas in regards to a topic, and focus on these problem areas throughout our session. I have a virtual whiteboard, and all students receive a pdf of notes taken during our session!
I have worked with students whose levels range from middle school to high school.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are specific areas of a math subject/topic that you do not understand? Make sure to try and ask these questions at the beginning of the session, so that a tutor can focus on them as you do problems!
