About Robert
I am currently a high school math teacher in Kansas City. I teach AP Calculus AB and have had experience with College Algebra as well. I received a degree in Biochemistry from William Jewell College and took both Calculus I and II there. I gained lots of tutoring experience working with the chemistry department in college and I now have daily experience working with students in both group settings and on an individual basis. As of last year I have a 50% pass rate for the AP Calculus AB exam.
I truly enjoy having the opportunity to help kids better understand a topic that I am really passionate about and love. I really strive to help my students achieve their own "aha" moment in math.
I joined Teach for America which helped me get into teaching.
I am currently a AP Calculus AB teacher in my 3rd year teaching the subject. I graduated Magna cum laude from William Jewell College with a degree in biochemistry. I was a tutor for the chemistry department during my time there.

The first thing I want to do is get to know the student as more than just a tutor. What are their passions and what do they want to do with their lives. Then we want to get into the nitty gritty about where the challenges are and what we can do to overcome them.
I have worked with all kinds of students.
The biggest thing I would ask is to make sure that you are ready to put in the work. I will do everything I can to help you better understand the content but I cannot do the work for you.
