About Samsara

Hi! My name is Samsara!

Samtothepowerof2 is built off of the main principle that time should feel like it's flying by when your learning. After every lesson I want students to feel confident in themselves, and their ability to learn and apply challenging concepts. I want to get to know each student individually, and plan my tutoring sessions according to their learning preferences! Students will quickly realize that I love their honesty; my favorite thing is when they tell me they still don't quite understand something, and then I get to find other creative ways to explain things! Students will learn to work hard in a motivating and positive environment.

I love getting to meet new people, and help them achieve their goals! I've worked numerous hours with students whose first language is not English, students who are in high level classes but are still struggling to understand previous concepts, and students who needed motivation throughout covid-19. During covid I worked hours on end supporting students with classes they were struggling in, and the most gratifying feedback each of my students has continuously repeated is, "What?! We've been doing math for 3 hours? I feel like we just started 10 minutes ago!". It's rewarding when students find their own passion for the subject, and are able to work forward with motivation.

Academic Honors:

I have been a member of the National Honors Society(NHS) since 7th grade, and have been a member every year since that time.

I have been a member of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF), for the years I have been eligible, which is my sophomore and junior years. I anticipate continuing my membership my senior year.

I was recently awarded the 2020-2021 Pandemic Service Award for serving my peers as a tutor with Online Guided Studies Seminar.

For both freshman and sophomore years in which I took French, I received gold medals from the Concours National De Français.

I have maintained all As in classes in high school, except for 1 B, which is consistent with the grades I received in junior high with all As.

High School Involvement:

Since freshman year, I have been a member and am the current President of the Women in Technology (WIT) at high school. The goal is to empower elementary through junior high school students to pique their interest in STEM. I will continue this effort through my senior year, and contribute to the weekly meetings, fundraisers and day-long events.

Also since freshman year, I have belonged to and am the Co-President of the Together to Empower (TTE) school club. I have worked on The Beauty of Female Diversity book that we will publish and sell to fund the education of young women in Africa, and will continue to do so until graduation.

Due to my long-lasting passion for helping others succeed in their school work, I have been a math tutor for students at my school since freshman year. Not only will I continue that effort through high school, I am open to supporting fellow students as needed in college.

I am a dedicated member of the Dos Pueblos Engineering Academy, which is a 4-year commitment.

I have been a varsity athlete for 2 high school sports, Cross Country as well as Track & Field, for all of my high school years. I have been the team captain for 2 years for both sports.

About the lesson

Before each lesson students will send me a quick description of:

1. What they need assistance with (ex. homework, explanation of a certain concept, etc.)

2. There goal for the meeting/what they hope to accomplish during the tutoring session

3. Any worksheets or example problems they want to go over during the meeting or think would be helpful for me to have as a reference ahead of time (*optional)
